My Stay at the Hyatt Centric Juhu Mumbai: Hotel Review

During my most recent trip to India and Mumbai, I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hyatt Centric Juhu Mumbai.

The Hyatt Centric Juhu is strategically located in the exciting and energetic Juhu neighborhood in Mumbai, and an easy 20 minute taxi ride from Mumbai International airport.

The cost of a taxi is around around ₹150 and if you’re looking to save some money there is a always the option of using the auto ricks from the airport into the city centre.

The hotel is just steps away from the Juhu Beach, allowing you to get glimpses views of the Arabian Sea. Juhu is also the centre of the city’s entertainment hub and is a popular area for entertainment, dining out, shopping, and chilling on the beach, for both locals and tourists alike.

The hotel’s proximity to popular tourist attractions such as the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Bandra-Worli Sea Link, and the Basilica of Our Lady makes it an ideal choice for travelers who want to explore Mumbai’s vibrant culture and heritage.

On the nearby beach, be sure to visit street vendors serving some of Mumbai’s most tasty street food that include as pani puri, vada pav, bhel puri, lassi and more

WELCOME AND CHECK IN

From the moment I walked in, the staff’s warm welcome made me feel right at home.

Following a brief auto rickshaw ride to get to the hotel I was warmly welcomed. The check in was fast and efficient by the friendly staff of the front desk.

All I had to do was provide my passport and fill in a form, while enjoying a cold, refreshing beverage.

To enter the hotel you do need to pass through a security check and your luggage has to be scanned by one of those machines just outside the lobby.

STYLE AND CHARACTER

Inside, the hotel is contemporary, bold and luxurious with a design that merges elegance with a young vibrant atmosphere.

The entire space is well designed with a neat and modern contemporary look that is noticed the moment you step into the lobby and continued into the living room space, bar and restaurant area.

The beautiful lighting, dark interior, and grand art pieces are particularly impressive and set the tone for the rest of the space.

HYATT CENTRIC JUHU ROOMS

With rooms and suites featuring modern amenities and tasteful decor, Hyatt Centric Juhu ensures a comfortable stay. The room is designed keeping both style and functionality in mind, providing a tranquil retreat amidst the bustling city. The sophisticated and quirky personality is well complemented with expansive views of the city and sea.

The super comfortable bed was most welcome, particularly after a packed two-week itinerary exploring the Indian state of Kerala. A particular favourite was the ultra comfortable cotton bedding.

Anchoring the bed was a flatscreen TV with a wide choice of channels. A large couch with plenty of electrical points in the corner of the room came in handy.

With an extra comfortable king size bed, workstation, and panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf, you’d need a really good reason to leave the room.

The luxury and comfort continued in the contemporary bathroom fitted with a shower, washbasin, large mirror, and Hyatt signature Portico® bath products. The large walk-in shower contains an adjustable massage shower-head and plenty of bathroom amenities.

A nice selection of Portico® amenities are left in the bathroom. This is of high quality and feels good on the skin.

ARABIAN SEA VIEWS

A sure highlight of the stay was the uninterrupted, captivating views of the Arabian Sea and beach from the room. It is the perfect vantage point to witness the sun go down late in the afternoon and the subsequent colors in the sky.

With the Hyatt Centric Juhu Mumbai situated steps away from the beach, expect views of the city below and the Arabian Sea in the distance from the rooms.

But, if at all possible, book or request a room with a view as not all rooms are sea facing.

Hat-tip: (book) request a room overlooking the beach, taking full advantage of the views. The higher the better for a naturally better vantage point and also to limit possible noise from the street area.

CUISINE AT HYATT CENTRIC JUHU

The hotel boasts an array of dining options that cater to diverse preferences and where every bite is a culinary delight.

The variety and quality of the food options exceeded my expectations. From a hearty breakfast spread to delightful dinner choices, the hotel’s cuisine impressed me. The flavors were rich and the presentation was on-point.

The open kitchen is a nice touch as it allows one you to be involved and connected with the food that is served.

The breakfast buffet is a great start to the day.

Breakfast served at Sesame restaurant is highly recommended with the buffet food selection and presentation being a big highlight. Everything you need to start the day off right from salads to fruit, eggs, oats, masala dosa, sandwiches, curries, and other authentic local delicacies, you name it.

Not to mention the best selection of fresh fruit juice, coffees, and milkshakes! Pineapple, orange, mango, watermelon, and the list goes on. There is also a good selection of croissants, muffins and other pastries to satisfy your morning sweet cravings.

You also have the option of indulging in room service from the comforts of the room at Hyatt Centric Juhu Mumbai, with a wide selection of both Indian and international dishes on offer

Lunch and dinner at Sesame

Sesame is a contemporary, upscale restaurant with a focus on modern Asian, traditional Indian and authentic European cuisine served in a highly aspirational ambiance. It boasts a sophisticated and trendy ambiance with modern decor, soothing lighting, and comfortable seating that create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

This culinary gem features an array of mouthwatering dishes that include sushi, soups, dimsum, tofu, and salads. The dragon maki sushi comes highly recommended.

Some must-try signature dishes at Sesame include the flavorful green peppercorn lamb, katsu curry, and the sesame special stir fry.

WIFI

Staying connected while at the Hyatt Centric Juhu was a breeze using the complimentary Wi-Fi internet access, which worked great throughout even when I ventured as far as the rooftop area.

You only need to log in with your details initially and it automatically connects thereafter.

OTHER HOTEL FACILITIES

The hotel features a rooftop swimming pool and area. While this has great potential, it was the biggest disappoint or letdown of my stay.

It didn’t feel very welcoming and the pool, although probably fine to swim in, didn’t feel clean enough. I guess that because I visited during the India’s monsoon season and following days of relentless rain, I guess this is to be expected.

So it’s something to bear in mind, in keeping your expectations in check, for your own stay here.

The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness centre, offering cardio equipment, strength training machines and free weights.

STAFF AND SERVICE

This delightful hotel provides a warm Mumbaikar welcome. My flight out of Mumbai was late at night. Fortunately, I was given a much needed and appreciated late check-out before catching a taxi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The process to check-out was quick and efficient.

Throughout my time here, the staff were nothing short of professional, friendly, helpful, welcoming and courteous. From the front desk staff to the housekeeping and restaurant staff, all were full of smiles and eager to make my stay a pleasant one.

With ultra luxurious rooms, scrumptious cuisine, a large rooftops swimming area, and warm hospitality, the Hyatt Centric Mumbai has just the perfect mix to provide a wonderful stay.
